The battle for evangelism still continues today. Jesus has given us the “Great Missionary Commission” to go and make disciples, and Christians are still trying to figure out what that means. Other Christians are still trying to figure out evangelism and determine from a psychological and a social perspective or with a clinical understanding what is evangelism.

Jesus did not tell us to go and figure out where people are in their spiritual journey. He said to go and make disciples. This is what I call the “Great Missionary Commission.” Jesus has given the church its instructions and our response is to obey Jesus’ command. Our response is to obey and go make disciples of those who are not yet believers and followers in Jesus Christ.

You might be wondering what is clinical evangelism? CE as I will refer to this is the action of studying or observing a process. Don’t get me wrong, I am an eternal student of evangelism. What I am referring to is the analytical and coolly dispassionate attitude toward evangelism of trying to figure something out. Remember that Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples. If we truly believe that the Bible is God’s instruction book like we profess, then we must use the principles, practices and processes found in this precious book.

We should be in a clinic of evangelism on a regular if not a daily basis. Every time we go out to share our faith we should be in a clinic of allowing God to teach us through witnessing conversations and encounters. Every time I go out God teaches me something new about how to respond to someone’s question or how to begin a witnessing encounter. I believe that if the church stopped trying to figure out evangelism and prayed more seeking God asking Him show us the way, the process we would see more people come to Christ. If we would trust Him to give us favor with people in communities we would have more opportunities to share the gospel and eventually see more people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

We need more biblical evangelism and less clinical evangelism. No we just need more believers just trusting in Jesus and take Him at His word. We just need to go and make disciples.
